In 2019 Uniser has launched the Hoster Community, an online platform through which Italian families can volunteer to host European students. This initiative, which is under the testing phase, is expected to contribute to the internationalisation at home process because it will facilitate the exchanges of students and staff among European schools, most of the time hindered by the lack of accommodations, and at the same time it will ensure its sustainability. On one hand the participation of families increases the learning potential of mobility thanks to the so-called “full immersion” in another culture. On the other hand it increases the presence of European students in local schools. This will create more opportunities for local young people to get in touch with other European cultures and practice a second language, and it will also offer teachers inspiration to organise their lectures.
